Consultation
During your first appointment, our laser technician will discuss treatment areas, medical history, current medications, and for female patients, hormonal components of hair growth. Once confirmed a candidate, they will discuss what to expect during your laser sessions.
Treatment
Depending on the surface area, treatment can take anywhere from a matter of minutes to an hour. Most patients report mild discomfort but treatment is overall well tolerated.
Post Treatment
You can anticipate an immediate halt in hair growth for 3-7 days following treatment, hair growth will then continue and is likely to grow patchy and eventually finer and more sparse.
Pre and Post-Treatment Do’s and Don’ts
Do
- Shave the treatment area the night prior to your appointment.
- Stop all application of retinol or hydroquinone products in the treatment area for two weeks prior to your appointment.
- Stop all antibiotics 1 week prior to treatment.
Don’t
- Wax or pluck the treatment area for 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- No active suntan or self tanner in the treatment area.

Is this treatment right for me?
This treatment is great for candidates that have dark, thick, unwanted hair. Ideally, female candidates will be through puberty with regulated menstruation.
How soon will I see results?

Is this treatment painful?
Treatment is mildly painful, but well tolerated by most patients. It feels like a hot rubber band snapping followed by a burst of cold (cryogen) to cool the skin. Aloe cortisone cream is applied to the area immediately following treatment to provide soothing comfort.
How often should I receive this treatment?
Treatment packages are sold in six sessions which are spaced out between 4 and 8 weeks depending on the treatment area. Patients can anticipate a 90-95% reduction of hair growth in any given treatment area.
How long will results last?
Maintenance treatments are sometimes required, most commonly on the face secondary to the hormonal nature of facial hair.
Should I plan for downtime?
Patients are typically able to resume their normal activities directly after the procedure, although some slight redness may be noticed in the area that was treated. The only limitation to providing a safe and effective treatment series is remaining away from the sun. Direct sun exposure and tanning are contraindicated during the treatment series.
